I bought a fairphone three+. It's non got a many features as the latest of the other brands, but it does everything I bought it for.

I had problems from the beginning. Earlier two years I had to change the microphone (which a friend did because without some tools it's incommunicable to open and not damage it), but besides the start button didn't work well. Sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. I sent information technology to repair. I received the phone subsequently repairing and I decide to examination it without the sim card for a while. I used another old phone for the menu that I was using while repairing. Once the screen trembled. Subsequently a while the same push button supposed to be repaired was failing some times. My phone (Fairphone three) stopped working and the promise of a free envelope to send the phone back never arrived. It was very difficult to get a resolution. Over £400 for a phone that lasted less than a year.
Fairphone 2 was great, simply three is awful!
I had a Fairphone two for 3 years and loved information technology, so when it stopped working I decided to get a Fairphone iii. Unfortunately this phone is atrocious, the signal is so awful that I tin barely apply mobile information as I volition find signal that will and then disappear the moment I outset using it despite my phone not moving, and I have huge difficulty making phone calls every bit again the betoken is then atrocious people just accept to give upwardly talking to me as the phone keeps cutting in and out. So far the Fairphone has done its task I can make telephone calls, and practice the necessary piece of work that is needed on a phone (calls, messages, watching videos, social media...). I had medium expectations, knowing I was moving from Apple to Android.
The telephone can sometimes get slow or the screen freeze while other time telephone call sound for the receiver is hard to perceive, just apart from that quite resistant to water as I have gotten it wet at least 3/iv times. Information technology too has a relatively long battery, information technology lasts at least the total 24-hour interval and sustains frequent dropping.
I am overall satisfied with the product, and hope to use it for at least five years if non more!
My FP3+ makes repairing any other phone look like Brain surgery!
Really like my Fairphone 3+
Pros;
. Nice Minimalist blueprint.
. Clean android experience with no bloatware.
. Very easy to unscrew the thirteen screws to get at the modules, as long every bit y'all are precise. Would strongly recommend using the box the Fairphone is shipped with or some kind of container so these don't go lost.
. Phone stopped charging properly and after changing the leads. I quickly realised there was a problem with the USB Type-C connector (apparently these aren't very reliable).
I was able to society a new Bottom module. It took a couple of weeks to arrive from the Netherlands.
But once information technology arrived, I found Information technology an absolute walk in the park to replace this module. Took only about 20mins. iFixit has a very good guide for this and other repairs which I used.
Started charging perfectly after this.
No soldering. No gum and very little messing about.
. This repair I did myself probably saved me about £20 in labour from fugitive a repair shop. Very impressed at how easy that was.
Cons;
. Design is dated.
. I call up the CPU could be ameliorate. I get a chip of lag off information technology, but information technology's no worse than a Nexus 5x I had for example.
. Screen and camera aren't the best but still very useable.
. Not very waterproof.
. USB-Blazon C port is prone to getting stuffed up with dust.
. Shipping of parts was very slow. A good 2/3 weeks. Although I sympathize if Brexit affected this. That was a long fourth dimension to go without a telephone. Fairphone need to speed up the process for shipping parts. 1 star lost for how slow it was.
Nevertheless I can overlook all that and however requite it iv stars because my previous Samsung Galaxy S7 packed in after being dropped and then the technicians I contacted could do nada to gear up it. That Samsung was but ii yrs former. A phone that expensive should be both durable and repairable. Samsungs are neither! (Despite the nice hardware).
I wanted something that wasn't glued together and easy to repair just still offered core smartphone functions. The use of recycled lanthanides and plastics is an excellent use of precious resource.
Every phone has weaknesses and I recollect it'due south better that a telephone is easy to repair even if it isn't brilliantly waterproof or not shockproof because the phones that claim to be shockproof/waterproof normally aren't, equally I've experienced.
A phone is a brick if you tin't fix information technology. Doesn't matter what features information technology may have.

The FP4 doesn't seem to have whatever of the issues I run across people complaining of hither. Then far works rapidly and efficiently despite me disabling or replacing about the google android stock apps (very trivial bloatware). Terrible phones and non existent customer service! Wanted to do the right thing and got two Fairphones for myself and my husband. One phone failed in less than 12 months and literally fell apart. The other limped forth a scrap longer but with all sorts of problems. Sadly not fit for purpose. Great idea terribly executed!
Terrible customer service
Terrible client . Having problems with the phone, not connecting to Data, light dimming and all calls coming in as unknown. Instead of fixing it, I received long emails on how I should fix it. Didn't piece of work of class. Very disappointing, would definitely not recommend buying ane.
Not quite in that location yet
I ordered a Fairphone in Jan 2021, after getting sent to some other land I received information technology 6 weeks later. Brexit etc. Fair plenty.
Afterward an upgrade to android OS10 the battery tuckered quickly and the telephone would charge or switch on.
I still have the handset waiting to exist collected effectually four weeks later on. All the same no handset…
Overall the phone was fine, nothing fancy which was to be expected. Given that the phone has lasted me around 10 weeks I can't really label it as sustainable. All the additional aircraft, repairs and or replacements accept eroded the Sustainability credentials and I am out of pocket and without a telephone.
Those of us desperately aiming to reduce our impact on the world put up with less than, lower tech, higher prices and by and large going without but at this stage I couldn't recommend Fairphone.
A shame as it's a keen thought and the ethos is vivid.
Unreliable phone, poor customer service
Phone simply slightly older than a year and I'm having to replace the bottom module again because the telephone won't accuse. The showtime fourth dimension happened weeks afterward getting the phone start and customer service messed me around for ages with stuff almost charging cables before getting me to send it to France (!) for repair - a repair I could take done myself if they'd just sent me a bottom module anyhow. Least reliable phone I've ever had, and ironically becoming the nigh wasteful. I'm sort of sorry to be leaving such a negative review when I support the idea, but and then if customer service weren't but as bad as the phone and so I wouldn't exist quite so fed upward.

Is made in china and then you never know how far is it there.
I don't know is it because of the screen size or the protector is besides thick, but sometimes it's non detecting my touching the screen on the corners.
If they will move production out of china I will definitely go the side by side i if not I will still think nearly it.
I take that telephone over a year at present.
Fairphone Ripoff
I am livid with the treatment I've had from this company. Like others I wanted to cut downward on waste of precious resource, but after half-dozen months the Fairphone 3 bought in October 2022 stopped working and the screen pixelated. I was given complicated instructions to remove xiii - THIRTEEN - tiny screws and remove a component. To exercise this I had to earth myself! I take osteoarthritis in my thumbs and poor eyesight, and this is not possible for me. Help has been distressing. I was told this happened if the phone was jolted. It hadn't been 'jolted'.
I am going to return this to PhoneCoop who sold it to me and enquire for a refund. I will take out a small claim in the County court if necessary.

Very happy with my Fairphone 3, for more and then half a yr now. Bought it at Due east-Foundation with top privacy settings
The most-trusted apps are bachelor at the own app shop. All others on Aurora store. All Apps can be restricted in their activities.
That makes me feel very comfortable.
The phone could be a scrap smaller.

A mixed handbag
I bought the Fairphone 3 in June 2022 and it worked fine until Jan 2021. I love that it is an ethical, long lasting phone. I honey that it had a 1year warranty, then that when it did break it was covered. Simply as presently as it bankrupt it was just painful getting it fixed and the whole concern model of buying one phone and having it terminal for years fell apart. They just couldn't get their act together and to cut a long story curt it took two months for Fairphone to become my phone working again. Who is happy to be without a phone for two months present? It simply made me desire to purchase a dissimilar phone, rendering the business model void. Customer service responses were drawn out and vaguely apathetic, there didn't seem much real value for the customer or a desire to gear up things right. I nonetheless accept my Fairphone and hopefully it volition last for many years to come. I'm willing to take chances that it does as I similar what Fairphone practice and I'm willing to endure a bit if poor service to support information technology!
